Samsung: Leaked roadmap was false, no I9250

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Well, that’s disappointing. After all the excitement of the alleged Samsung handset roadmap that leaked earlier this week promising nine new handsets and two new tablets, Samsung have come out and said it’s all a load of cobblers.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }
"Some media have been reporting that Samsung is preparing to launch nine new smartphones and two new tablet devices," said Sammy in a press release. "While Samsung is continuously working on new devices for our customers, the details being cited are not accurate in this case."

Not that this completely rules out everything we heard about the roadmap – it’s possible that when Samsung says "details cited" they’re referring to insubstantial things like model numbers and release dates. But the Eeyore in us doubts Samsung would come out with a press release just to disavow some dodgy model numbers.

That means saying goodbye to the GT-I9250, the dual-core, 1.4GHz smartphone with its 4.65-inch display and its Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system; and goodbye as well to the GT-I9220, the handset-cum-tablet follow-up to the Galaxy Tab. We hardly knew ye.

PURE Move 2500 portable DAB and FM radio review

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Squashing down your home digital radio into a compact form, PURE has revamped its range of PocketDABs with the Move 2500 landing as a travel-friendly offering.

Taking design notes from Apple’s iPod, albeit the very early models, the PURE Move 2500 utilises a simplistic interface and control combination to offer quality audio output from FM or digital radio sources whilst on the move.

Pure Move 2500 Features

Capable of supporting 10 FM and 10 DAB presets, PURE’s latest portable DAB radio allows for quick and easy navigation between the most visited channels with presets simply set using the devices click wheel and central selection point.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }

Whilst the Move 2500’s lack of features and dated calculator-style black-on-orange LCD display are disparaging attributes to some, its distinct omission of superfluous bells and whistles has a positive affect on the device’s battery. A claimed 14 hour battery life proves accurate ensuring travelling with the device will result in infrequent bouts of low battery disappointment.

Pure Move 2500 Performance

Boxed with noise isolating headphones the PURE Move 2500 offers an audio experience greater than what its uninspiring and flimsy design would suggest.

Improving the audio output from its previous PocketDAB offerings, PURE has fitted the Move 2500 with well balanced bass and smooth tones. The device’s audio credentials are further bolstered by the standard bass and treble fine adjustment options.

With portability the Move 2500’s key selling point its need for strong signal whilst travelling is backed up by impressive performances whilst on the move listening to both FM and DAB stations. Tested on foot, bike and bus the PURE Move 2500 maintains strong signals across varying regions and across a broad spectrum of channels.

Pure Move 2500 Ease of use

A little on the slow side to start up, once the device has kicked into gear both FM and DAB stations are easy to navigate and select via the rubberised click wheel.

Finished with a black aluminium facia over a polished steel casework the PURE portable radio is dated in its appearance falling many years behind the slim form factor and touch displays of the current breed of PMPs.

Pure Move 2500 Verdict

Let down by its somewhat shoddy craftsmanship and unnecessarily chunky form factor, the PURE Move 2500 is redeemed by its surprisingly strong audio quality with reasonable noise isolating headphones and added plus.

Slightly expensive for what it is and the minimalist array of features on offer are a slight disappointment but fulfilling the Ronseal factor for doing exactly what it says on the tin, the PURE Move 2500 is an acceptable portable FM and DAB radio but little more.

Citrix app opens Windows for Chromebook owners

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Google hasn’t made any bones about its desire to position Chrome OS as a presence in the business space. But for plenty of users, the relatively limited functionality of Chromebooks doesn’t quite get the job done when it comes to doing serious work. The latest offering from Citrix could change that for a number of Chromebook-sporting business-types, offering access to Windows applications and desktops. Citrix Receiver Tech Preview is free from the Chrome Web Store (but requires a MyCitrix login). So now there’s no excuse for not getting any work done — except maybe a bad connection.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich screenshots leak

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Google’s next iteration of its Android mobile operating system has been revealed – partially – thanks to some leaked screenshots of a Google Nexus S loaded with the OS.

Start gallery: Ice Cream Sandwich Screenshots

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; } From the screenshots, which were leaked to the sites androidpolice.com and rootzwiki.com, we can see some changes to the current version of the Google OS. The notification bar has been redesigned, the OS features a shiny new launcher and app-drawer, and has taken on a Tron-esque blue tint.

Other new features of Android Ice Cream Sandwich not pictured in the screenshots reportedly include a panorama mode for the camera and a re-tooled Gmail interface. According to Androidpolice.com, the shots are neither "a joke, prank or some cruel attempt to make you click things" amd that they have "the utmost confidence in our source."

Little has been revealed about Android Ice Cream Sandwich until now, with Google keeping their cards tight to their chest about almost anything other than the name. We have heard, however, that Goolge are planning to launch the OS, which will run on both phones and tablets, sometime in Q4 this year. Stand by for more details in the coming weeks, then.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Spec Ops hands-on preview

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Spec Ops mode was the sleeper hit of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Sandwiched between the superb multiplayer and a campaign that made every season of 24 look plausible, Spec Ops was a chocolate box of activity for gamers. It was a collection of mini-missions, which were as addictive as they were compelling. It was also proof that Infinity Ward could stamp any kind of game – be it tower defence, run-and-gun or even arcade racing – onto their excellent first person shooter engine.

Now survival mode is back for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and we got some play time with it, to find out if it’s a welcome return for Spec Ops.

Spec Ops: What’s new?

For Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Spec Ops has been expanded. Infinity Ward has been guarded in the make up and composition contained in MW3’s Spec Ops, probably because like MW2, they’ll dovetail out of the main campaign. What they have been prepared to show off is a part of Spec Ops called Survival mode.

Survival mode is essentially Infinity Ward’s take on the Horde mode from Gears Of War 2, in as much as players are plonked down in a map, chucked a couple of weapons and then have to survive wave after wave of enemies.

Like Horde, Survival is a co-op affair in which players work together, defending choke points in a map and restocking ammo and weapons during the lull between waves. The difficulty of opponents also increases with each wave. Unlike the Horde from GOW2, however, players are able to pick up special attacks and deployable ordinance between waves. They also earn cash from each kill, which they can spend at ordinance stores in the map on items like gun turrets, modifications for their guns or AI reinforcements.

No way out..

Oh, and there’s no end to the punishment; unlike Horde, which players conquer after 50 waves of enemies, the foes keep coming in Survival until the players are brought down. Death is only way out.

And Lord knows the AI won’t make it easy for the players. Initially, shotgun-wielding cannon-fodder pitch up, their attacks so chaotic, the players don’t even need to fortify their positions. By the seventh or eighth wave, however, if they haven’t identified the map’s choke-points, upgraded their guns and ammo and deployed a couple of gun turrets, players will find William Hill odds on them are dropping sharply. Survival hurls a world of pain at them; flack-jacketed troops, Gatling gun-wielding giants, suicide bombers – even suicide bombing dogs – try to take them down.

Does it work?

Before that happens, however, there’s a lot of fun to be had. There’s a lovely, chaotic energy to Survival mode. Perhaps it’s because the player knows they’re in an unwinnable situation right from the start. Once the realisation sets in that the players are on the losing side – and this doesn’t take long – the dynamic of the match becomes one of bloody-mindedness versus inevitability.

Each wave ups the ante on the last – and as the difficulty rises, so does the palpable sense of last-stand desperation. Survival can’t lay claim to being entirely groundbreaking, but what it lacks in originality it more than makes up for in white-knuckled thrills.

Will RIM’s PlayBook get WiMAX? The Now Network says no (update: RIM focusing on LTE)

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Whoa there, RIM — not so fast. Despite an earlier commitment from Sprint, the Wall Street Journal reports that the Now Network has cancelled its plans to bring WiMAX to the BlackBerry PlayBook, leaving Research in Motion to continue selling WiFi-only models of the half-baked tablet. Sprint representatives cited poor adoption rates among business customers as one reason for the move to cancel PlayBook sales, along with an already crowded tablet market, also adding that the decision will have “no impact” on the carrier’s relationship with RIM. We can’t say that a WiMAX-capable PlayBook would have topped our back to school wish list, but this latest move is somewhat shocking nonetheless.

Update: RIM wrote in to share the following statement:

RIM has decided to prioritize and focus its 4G development resources on LTE. We remain excited and committed to delivering innovative and powerful 4G tablets to the US market together with our carrier partners. Testing of BlackBerry 4G PlayBook models is already underway and we plan to enter labs for network certifications in the US and other international markets this fall.

HTC Vigor to be first Beats by Dre handset?

By crysmurlinsComments Off

We got wind of the HTC Vigor back in July, when specs for the handset leaked out across the pond. From what we heard, gadget fans Stateside could look forward to a 1.5GHz processor, a 6MP camera and 720p video recording, and now we’re hearing that it might also be the first HTC phone to profit from the company’s recent partnering with ghetto fabulous headphone producer Beats by Dr. Dre.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }
HTC announced earlier this week that the mobile maker would be partnering up with the good doctor to bring users a "superior mobile audio experience." Speaking on the partnership, HTC CEO Peter Chou said: "We obsess over every detail of a consumer’s mobile experience and audio is a critical part of that experience."

Since whispers of the Vigor first rustled down the T3 grapevine, more specs for the handset have been tentatively revealed. The 1280×720 pixel screen is said to be 4.3-inches across, putting it at the same size as the Galaxy S2. Under the hood, buyers will also get 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. We’re also hearing that the camera, which we’d previously tipped to be 6MP, will actually pack a heftier 8MP, and will be accompanied by a 2MP front-facing camera for video calls. None of this, of course, is official as yet, but it looks to us like the Vigor is shaping up to be the new HTC flagship.

But for all the excitement about Dre and Chou’s new business relationship, no-one seems at all sure what the coveted Beats technology will turn out to be. Are we talking about some new or tweaked internals, or will we simply see a pair of HTC and Beats-branded earbuds packaged with the handsets? More as we hear it.

Teufel Columa 200 review

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Compact or ‘bookshelf’ speakers are a great option if you hate clutter, but anyone who’s serious about home cinema needs to invest in floorstanding speakers – that’s the best way to get the required punch and power for large-scale movie sound. Trouble is, you can end up paying through the nose for the privilege, but not when German brand Teufel is involved. Its Columa 200 system gets you a full 5.1 system with tower speakers for well under £500.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }

Teufel Columa 200: Design

The system includes four CL 200 FR columns for the front and rears, and surprisingly for towers they’re not imposing in the slightest. Their 24cm width gives them only a small footprint, while the sturdy, walnut-finished cabinets exude retro charm. Some may hanker for a little more excitement and elegance but the gloss black panel on the front grounds the design in today’s design tastes and complements the wood finish nicely. You also get square plinths that need to be screwed onto the bottom of each speaker. You also get a horizontal centre speaker (CL 200 C), designed to match the towers. It can be wall-mounted thanks to the brackets on the rear, or placed on your TV stand. And on bass duties is the surprisingly attractive Theater 800 SW subwoofer, which is bulkier than you might expect given the skinniness of the columns, but that’s because there’s a 150W amplifier and 250mm bass driver lurking inside.

Teufel Columa 200: Features

Columa 200 is designed to fill rooms of up to 30m² and does so using two 70mm midrange drivers and a 19mm tweeter inside each tower. The same drivers can be found inside the centre speaker, hopefully helping the system to deliver a cohesive soundstage. They cover a frequency range of 100Hz up to 20kHz. The subwoofer’s bass level can be adjusted using the volume control on the back, but the lack of crossover control and other tweaks means you may have to leave low-frequency fine tuning to your AV receiver. There’s a mono RCA input on the back.

Teufel Columa 200: Performance

Fire up the Columa 200 and its sound is detailed and pleasingly smooth at high volumes. It really digs deep into busy action scenes and drags out detail that not every speaker system is capable of resolving. That comes in useful during quiet scenes too – you can hear every little background detail, and Teufel builds atmosphere and tension beautifully. High frequencies sound smooth, the speakers and subwoofer are tightly integrated and there’s reasonable power on tap, helped in no small part by the sterling efforts of the tight, punchy sub – all of which allows the system to communicate the required sense of drama during feisty action scenes.

Teufel Columa 200: Verdict

Yet it didn’t really blow our socks off in the same way as some of the more powerful and dynamic systems elsewhere in Teufel’s range – the step-up Columa 300 being one. But in terms of dialogue clarity, detail reproduction, bass depth, agility and expansiveness, the Columa 200 is an excellent performer for the money.

Audi A0 monocycle concept takes you for a jaunt around the park (video)

By crysmurlinsComments Off

Segways can be tiring, what with all that required standing, but now even the laziest among us can enjoy the self-propelled fun with a sitdown solution. The Audi A0 concept, developed as a joint collaboration between Technische Universität München and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, combines an electric motor with a single, hollow wheel for a self-stabilizing, tilt-controlled stroll. Cruising along at a maximum speed of up to 15 km/h (that’s 9 mph to you Yanks), this leisure-minded monocycle isn’t meant for rush hour commuting, but can be folded up to fit in your car’s trunk for a casual ride around the great outdoors. Don’t expect to get too far on that sightseeing trek though, as the cycle’s battery only lasts for up to an hour. Curious to see this one-wheeler in motion? Then skip past the break for a full video demo.

[Thanks, Angel]

Samsung: Apple gave us “no notice” of injunction

By crysmurlinsComments Off

After hearing yesterday that Apple had brought an injunction against Samsung which resulted in their Galaxy Tab 10.1 being taken off the shelves, Samsung have released a statement claiming Apple’s move came as a complete shock.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }
"Samsung is disappointed with the court’s decision and we intend to act immediately to defend our intellectual property rights through the ongoing legal proceedings in Germany and will continue to actively defend these rights throughout the world." Said a spokesperson speaking to CNET.

"The request for injunction was filed with no notice to Samsung, and the order was issued without any hearing or presentation of evidence from Samsung."

The injunction was granted by a judge in Germany and is binding across the EU, with the exception of the Netherlands, in which Apple is already pursuing further legal action against Samsung.

Apple have since claimed in support  of the injunction that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 "blatantly" copies the iPad and iPhone design: "It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging." Said an Apple spokesperson. "This kind of blatant copying is wrong, and we need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas."

Samsung will be able to appeal the judge’s decision in Germany in a month’s time.

iTableous is a white iPhone 4 fit for a giant (video)

By crysmurlinsComments Off

If you like flying unicorns, you probably love giant flying unicorns, right? Well, the white iPhone 4 has officially gone from myth to reality, but it seems some folks are still chasing the dream in a BIG way. Case in point: iTableous, an outsized tabletop bearing a striking resemblance to the long-awaited iOS handset. Unlike previous iPhone tables we’ve seen, this one doesn’t support multi-touch — a wireless keyboard and mouse hold the keys to navigating this behemoth — but it does offer 4GB of DDR2 RAM, 500GB of internal storage, a 5.7 megapixel camera, 720p video recording, as well USB, HDMI and a good old 30-pin connector for hooking up the real-deal. What’s more, this iPhone’s a dual-booter, capable of running Mac OSX 10.6.7 (via Hackintosh) and Windows 7 Professional. If you’re living at the tip of a beanstalk and need to shake that tired old 3GS, check out the video of iTableous in action after the break.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 review

By crysmurlinsComments Off

There’s no two ways about it; Samsung’s stunning Galaxy Tab 10.1 simply wouldn’t exist without Apple’s bar-raising and category defining inventiveness. Cupertino Bay iPads have challenged other companies to think outside the tablet’s rectangle and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is living vicariously through Apple’s design finesse. But, when Samsung has just delivered the best Android "Honeycomb" tablet on the market, who are we to judge?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: Build

At only 545g, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is lighter than the iPad 2 and it’s slinkier as well thanks to tiny dimensions, giving us the perfect feel in our hand for pick up and play. Samsung opted for minimalism over connectivity so there’s no USB, media card slots or anything else spoiling the sleek design. We will berate Samsung for not adding a metal back, relying on cheaper plastic instead. The only hardware buttons are the on/off button and volume with everything else navigated via the ultra responsive multitouch interface. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 wasn’t exactly all guns ablazin’ from off, taking longer than expected to boot but was instant on from idle.

Rather than hardware connectivity, Samsung has bundled the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with high bandwidth Bluetooth 3.0 and support for WiFi 802.11 (a/b/g/n) so it can handle streaming HD content with ease.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: OS

Though Android Honeycomb is meant to make multitasking faster, we didn’t notice a speed bump but it does offer the ability to resize widgets and open apps now have a pop up thumbnail. making it easier to navigate.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: Screen

It was when we first picked up the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that everything just made sense. The 10.1-inch 720HD screen is a smite bigger than the competition but it isn’t about size – it’s literally about the motion in the ocean – and, try as we might, we couldn’t catch the gyroscopes and accelerometers out. Multimedia playback on the screen is abundant clarity from every angle and it is one of the brightest mobile screens we’ve seen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: Features

Despite Samsung’s commitment to social networking, it’s not as comprehensively integrated as HP’s Touchpad. It does have a Social Hub to manage and synch all of your networking trails and includes Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Samsung has also added an e-readers and Music Hub to rival iTunes with tracks set as 99p a pop and £5.00 for a popular album.

We weren’t that impressed with Samsung’s own apps store. The apps hawkers at the Samsung marketplace have got nothing extra to sell you won’t already find much more off at the Android Market. Tablets can live or die by their eco-system and most are a bazillion miles away from a fair fight with Apple. That said, we did get Dropbox and the Evening Standard app are great. Yes, there is Angry Birds in HD, you casual gamer, you.

On paper the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 is unsurpassed with only the TouchPad offering 200Hz more on its processor. Here you get a 1Ghz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor combined with NVIDIA ‘s Tegra 2, which accounted for the fact this can fly through graphically intensive HD apps games like, Galaxy on Fire 2 without breaking a sweat. Other goodies include 1GB of memory, a 3MP rear and 2MP front camera that’s fine for the bundled Google Talk. If you want Skype you have to download it. The rear camera is slow to take shots and the focussing seems more like a lucky dip but it can handle excellent 720 HD video recording and 1080 HD video playback.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: Battery

The only connection is a dock connector that plugs in to a USB port or into a AC Adapter for charging. That’s very slow charging – our review unit took nearly four hours to get back to maximum charge but the powerful 7000-mAh battery lasts for up to nine hours on light use.

These tablets take up too much juice to charge over USB but Samsung gets points for adding drag and drop simplicity. There’s no bloatware install in the order of Apple’s monopolistic tendencies with iTunes and it also plays Flash codecs – take that iPad.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: Verdict

Certainly not perfect, lacking in decent apps and not quite the elusive iPad 2 beater we were looking for, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 is still the best Android tablet you can get. Samsung is charging £399, the same as Apple for the entry-level 16GB version and is selling a 32GB and 64GB 3G-enabled model but wouldn’t give us the price on those.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch date: Mid August,Samsung

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 price: Starts at £399 for 16GB model

Samsung Galaxy Tab Specs

  • OS: Android 3.1 (Honeycomb)
  • Processor: 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core ARM Cortex A9
  • RAM:1GB
  • Storage: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB
  • Screen: 10.1-inch 1280×800 WXGA resolution
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR, USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11 (a/b/g/n)
  • Camera: 3MP rear/ 2MP front
  • Video: 1080p Full HD Video @ 30fps
  • Dimensions: 256.6x 172.9 x 8.6mm/545g

Dell quietly kills Streak 5 while nobody’s looking, mourns end-of-life status

By crysmurlinsComments Off
The Dell Streak 5 has always been an outlier, and it’s traveled a bumpy road ever since the unveiling when Dell insisted its smartphone was in fact a portable tablet. From the delayed launch in the US to its $549 price for a SIM-locked unit — not to mention the uncomfortably long dance with Donut — perhaps this moment has been coming for a while. That’s right, folks, the Dell Streak 5 is no more. Last month we reported it had been taken off the market while it received a software update, but the hive mind in Round Rock must have changed its sentiments along the way. The company now hosts a web page that declares its spacious smartphone / compact tablet has met end-of-life status, and it’s offering little information other than the ominous phrase, “Streak 5 is no longer available.” Perhaps spinners such as DJ_Steve will keep the misbegotten wonder alive with projects like StreakDroid, but for the time being, we’re forced to hang our heads to honor the Streak’s passing. It’s been a great ride, indeed.

LG Optimus Sol leaked video

By crysmurlinsComments Off

A prototype of LG’s upcoming Optimus Sol, a mid-range smartphone due for release sometime before the end of the year, has cropped up on German tech site BestBoyz.

.relatedLinksLeft { font-size:12px; width:300px; margin:12px 12px 12px 0; float:left; padding:0px 0px 10px 0px; background:#ececec; } h3.rlTitle {margin:0px; display:block; padding:5px 0 4px 15px !important; background:#ddd; }

Previously known by its codename ‘Victor’, the Optimus Sol was one of the several handsets leaked back in July when LG’s 2011 product roadmap was outed online.

The Optimus Sol packs a 3.8-inch AMOLED display, a 1GHz processor, a 5MP camera and will come running Gingerbread with a custom LG UI layered over the top. According to BestBoyz, the phone will launch in both black and silver models, with pricing in Europe set at around 299 Euros.

No word on release date as yet, although that leaked roadmap put the launch at sometime in Q3 this year, so expect to hear more on the Sol in the coming weeks.

Samsung i927 clears the FCC hurdle, AT&T-bound at last?

By crysmurlinsComments Off
Yeah, the Samsung i927 definitely exists — and the FCC’s flaunting the docs to prove it. That doesn’t mean we’re allowed to know all its deep, dark secrets yet; sadly, the Galaxy S II-esque device doesn’t bare it all for us to see. Granted, we’ve already seen pics of the QWERTY landscape slider, and it seems like that it’ll make its way onto AT&T’s smartphone lineup, so we already know more about the device than most FCC filings could ever reveal. But is it the mystical Samsung Attain we’ve postulated about for months? It utilizes the usual 850 / 1900 bands for WCDMA and HSPA (though it leaves no mention of any global frequencies that may lie in the phone), and the dimensions show a striking resemblance to those on the unlocked GSII — it’s roughly one mm off in both directions — so we can’t let go of the possibility yet. Whatever it is, this thing can’t come soon enough.

Specifically, though, we’re noticing that in the world of tablets, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is fast becoming companies’ No. 2 once they’ve gotten the iPad squared away. Take Logitech, for example.
